FAQs

Before I book

What is the deadline to register my child?

There is no deadline but as spaces on most courses are limited, we encourage you to book as soon as possible.

My child is slightly younger than the published age range for a particular course. Is that ok?

I am afraid this is not possible. We need to be consistent with the course information that we publish so all students must be within the published age range on arrival.

How can I pay for my booking?

We collaborate with Flywire for the collection of all course fees and our invoices include a link to the Flywire payment portal. Flywire facilitates quick, secure and convenient transactions and you can pay in GBP or in local currency.

I do not want to use Flywire – is that ok?

No problem. Our invoices also contain our bank details so you can use a different payment method if you prefer. In this case, we must receive the full GBP amount.

Do you offer special discounts for siblings, friends or returning students?

We do not offer any discounts I am afraid. Our fully inclusive courses offer great value for money and we believe it is important that all students pay the same course fee. Any promotional discounts will be published on our website and will be available to all students.

What is not included in the fees?

Our courses are fully inclusive. The only thing not included is the cost of any Pro Options or Exams, which are optional. There are also supplements for extra nights and transfers on non-standard days or from/to non-standard airports, if required and agreed by us in advance.

After I book

Do you accommodate special diets?

Yes, our catering teams can accommodate special dietary requirements for medical reasons or religious observance. You will need to send us full details in advance of your child’s arrival so that we can be fully prepared.

Is it possible to change courses after we have booked?

Yes, subject to availability, you can change your course at any time before arrival or even after arrival depending on the circumstances.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

You can cancel your booking before 1 May without any penalty. If you cancel the course after this date, our published cancellation terms apply.

Is there any extra charge for flights arriving or departing early in the morning or late at night?

Transfers are included at selected airports and international train stations at any time of day. If there is a choice, our preferred transfer times are between 10:00 and 17:00.

Is there any extra charge if my child flies as an Unaccompanied Minor (UM)?

No, we do not charge any additional fees for this.

Can my child share the same bedroom with his sibling or friend?

You can inform us of any accommodation requests when you book. We will consider all requests and meet them if we can but they are subject to availability and cannot be 100% guaranteed.

On arrival

Can my child keep their medication in their bedroom?

All students under 18 must hand all medication in on arrival. All medication must be kept safe and administered by our welfare / medical staff. We accept medicines prescribed by a doctor from your own country, as long as there is an English translation.

How will my child get to your school from the airport?

We arrange all transfers to and from the airport and this is included in the weekly package price. If you prefer, you can bring your child to the school yourself and / or pick them up on departure.

During the course

Can I book a Pro Option for my child during the course?

Yes, as long as we have a space and receive payment before the Pro Option starts.

My child has run out of pocket money, how can I send some more urgently?

You can make a debit/credit card payment via Flywire. Use this link britishss.flywire.com

My child has a problem at the school, who can I talk to?

Please contact the Centre Manager immediately so that they can resolve your child’s problem. See our complaints procedure for full details of how we deal with complaints.

After the course

Help, my child has left something at the school!

We cannot take responsibility for lost property but we will do our best to help you. If you send us a full description of what has been lost, we will check the lost property for you. Lost Property is only kept for 4 weeks.

After speaking with my child on his arrival home, I wish to raise a concern or make a complaint.

All concerns and complaints should be raised at the time so that we have opportunity to resolve them. If you would like to raise a complaint after your child’s departure, this must be done by email / in writing within 10 days of your child leaving British Summer School. Ask for a copy of our Complaints Policy.

I want to book the same course again next year, is this possible?

Our courses are designed to be developmental and progressive, therefore, we recommend that returning students move onto the next suitable course. However, if your child wishes to repeat the same programme in the same location, this is ok.

My child had a fantastic time and I already want to book for next year. When is the earliest I can do this?

We always aim to open up bookings for the next season in October. If you want to book before then, contact us by email at admin@britishsummerschool.co.uk and we will reserve a space for you.
