Activities Assistant

Accountabilities

Session Planning: To assist in planning and preparing relevant, high-quality, structured, and engaging sports and activity sessions that create a positive environment where every student feels inspired, involved, and empowered to participate and learn.

Managing Sports & Activities Sessions: To assist in leading and managing a diverse range of sports and activities confidently, professionally, and safely, ensuring students experience an enjoyable and well-run Social Programme throughout the Summer School.

Risk Assessments / Health & Safety: To read, understand, and apply the risk assessment for every sport or activity you lead or assist with, ensuring full adherence to Health and Safety policies and procedures so that all sessions are safe and well-managed.

Excursions: To accompany and supervise students on trips or excursions, following the schedule and all relevant procedures to ensure a safe, enjoyable, informative and well-organised experience.

Pastoral Care: To remain consistently aware of students’ attitudes, behaviour, and general well-being, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are supported, and to promptly report any concerns to the Welfare Manager or Centre Manager.

Promoting Good Conduct: To monitor and positively guide students’ behaviour, fostering a respectful and inclusive international community in which every student feels valued, confident, and supported regardless of background or beliefs.

House Duties: To supervise students within the Boarding House, uphold expectations of conduct, enforce routines such as bedtimes, report any issues or damage, and support the House Parent or Welfare Manager to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-managed living environment.

Airport Transfers: To undertake airport transfers courteously and efficiently, adhering to all timings and procedures to deliver a professional, high-quality welcome and departure service that ensures minimal waiting times and a positive first and last impression of the school.

Social Media Photography & Video: Under the direction of management holder is responsible for capturing high-quality footage of lessons, activities, evening entertainment, and excursions using British Summer School recording devices.

Centre Requirements: To help ensure that the centre is set up effectively and packed away as required by the Head Office team.

All duties are subject to change at the discretion of the Managing Director.

JOB ROLE:
Activities Assistant

KEY PURPOSE OF JOB:
To implement and assist with the coaching plan as agreed with the Activities Manager.  Ensuring sessions are well planned, risk assessed, engaging and fun.

REPORTING TO:
Activities Manager

HOURS:
Morning Shift: 11:30 - 19:00 Afternoon Shift: 13:30 – 21:00

The above shows the typical working hours. Staff will be scheduled across both weekdays and weekends. Weekend shifts may be longer to support excursions or transfers.

Hours may vary between centres and according to the needs of the Summer School.

SALARY:
£533 per week + 12.07% Holiday Pay Total weekly pay £597.33 (Including Holiday Pay)

Accommodation Deduction: An accommodation deduction of £74.62 will deducted for those staff that are residential.
