Science Teacher

Accountabilities

  • To prepare and deliver high-quality lessons to the expected standard, i.e. lessons that motivate the class and have variety, pace, and challenge all the students helping develop and expand their understanding of some key concepts and topics in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Anatomy and Physics to help students prepare for future academic study

  •  To prepare and deliver Focus Science lessons based on Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Anatomy, Physics/Maths

  • To complete administrative duties such as maintaining accurate lesson plans, class profiles, registers, and weekly logs of work done.

  • To liaise with other teachers and DoS on weekly planning.

  •  To ensure that student notebooks are up-to-date, work is marked, mistakes have been corrected and students’ self-reviews have been completed.

  •  To ensure that classroom displays are clear, vibrant, illustrative, and representative of the student’s week’s work.

  •  To take responsibility for the safety, welfare, and behaviour of all students during the EFL programme time.

  • Maximum teaching contact time of up to 7.5 hours per week with a further 5 hours of paid prep time per week.

  • To write weekly Progress Reports for all students (even if not leaving or if students change programme after just a few days)

Qualifications

  • Specialist Native / near-native competence in English (written and spoken)

  • First degree or equivalent in a particular subject (Science or Maths)

  • CELTA, Trinity TESOL or Accreditation UK recognised equivalent or PGCE (in English or MFL) are desirable but are not essential

  • QTS (primary or secondary) are particularly welcomed

  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience

12:00 – 14:30 Monday to Friday

(12.5 hours per week)

SALARY:
£334.61 per week + 12.07% per week

Total pay per week £375.00 (Including holiday pay)
