Skills and Requirements
All British Summer School staff require native/near-native competence in English and must be eligible to work in the UK, which will be checked during the recruitment process
All British Summer School staff must be over the age of 18 at the start of employment and be medically fit for the role.
Experience of working with children/young adults in a multi-national environment would be an advantage
We are looking for people who are hard-working, reliable, energetic and happy to get stuck into whatever task may come their way!
All staff need to be available to attend the staff induction (senior staff attend a longer induction)
What we Offer

A 2-day pre-course induction programme designed to prepare you for camp life
One full day off per week plus up to a third of each working day off
Use of the centre’s sports facilities in your free time

1. Choose Your Role and Apply
Take a look at our available roles and decide which one suits you best, then submit your application via the online portal.
Please note that during your interview, you’ll be asked to explain any gaps in your CV timeline.2. Initial Contact
A member of our Head Office team may arrange a short, informal phone chat to get to know you a little better and assess your suitability for the role.3. Interview Stage
If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to a formal one-to-one interview via video call. As all our roles involve close contact with children, we’ll also discuss your understanding of and commitment to safeguarding.4. Additional Interview (for Teaching Staff)
EFL teacher applicants may also have a second interview with the Principal.5. References
We’ll request at least two references from previous employers or tutors.
You can indicate on your application if you’d prefer us not to contact your current employer before a conditional offer is made, but please note that this reference must be received before you start work.We may also contact other previous employers as part of our safer recruitment checks.
References from friends or family are not accepted, and referees will be asked to confirm whether there is any reason you should not work with under-18s.
Any offer may be withdrawn if references are missing, unsatisfactory, or contain false information.6. Outcome of Your Application
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application.7. Conditional Job Offer
If successful, you’ll receive a conditional offer, subject to the following:Proof of identity and (where applicable) your qualifications (originals must be shown)
Proof of right to work in the UK (e.g. British or Irish citizenship, EU settled/pre-settled status, or a valid work visa)
A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (and, if applicable, an overseas Police Certificate of Good Conduct).
Checks against the “Barred List” and, where relevant, the “Prohibited List.”
Once all safer recruitment checks are complete, you’ll receive your contract along with key documents, such as your job description, safeguarding summary, and privacy notice.
8. Before You Start
After returning your signed contract, we’ll send you our Employee Handbook and other helpful pre-arrival information.
If we haven’t already verified your original documents or certificates, please bring them to your induction or on arrival at camp, this must be done before you start work.9. If You’re Unsuccessful
